hello, i am mandy and i am 32 yrs old, no diagnosis.

about 5 years ago, i had my first issue of my entire left side going numb for a few minutes, but quickly recovered.  from then on, i have had many weird issues ranging from:  vertigo, sharp facial pain, numbness and tingling in all extremities + face, shooting spine pain, foot pain upon waking, eye issues { i have 20/20 vision, but will experience times of non focusing and blind spots-very short lived}, 'hot spots' in my head, inability to focus, forgetfullness.

5 yrs ago with the first symptoms i had an mri, it came back with the dr. saying i had "lots of empty spots" and my trigeminol nerve was enlarged.  3 yrs ago, i went in again and had another mri that came back, all he said was "clean".   I had another neuro exam today, in which i 'passed' all the reflex exams and touch your nose type things.  he said ms isn't even a possibilty because #1) clean brain MRIs. #2) passing reflex, etc.  and #3)   that because my episodic stuff only lasts minutes, hours, days- not months, that that is not ms.  he basically told me i'm stressed out {i'm not} and that i just need sleep.   is it possible to still have ms despite these other things passing the tests?  my primary care dr. seemed to think i would definately come back with m.s....any help or directions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi mandy4kids,

Diagnosing MS can be difficult, but there are criteria that doctors must follow to determine an accurate diagnosis, here is a link to the clinical criteria that must be met for a diagnosis:

Here is our diagnosis section of the website:

I'm sure it's incredibly frustrating to be unsure of what is going on with your health. Have you considered seeing an MS specialist?  You can find some of them at the link below, or call us for referrals close to you.

Have a great weekend, I hope you find some answers soon!
