I have starting to notice that I can only drive around town on my own but can not drive more then 30 mintues one way by myself anymore! THis is very hard for me. My husband just bought me a car in October of last year and I love it the first time in my life I have something new and not used or on it's last leg. I get really tired driving for no reason to the point I have to pull over and let my husband drive! I hate this I'm hating this monster more and more every day and it sucks! I feel like I'm losing my own time and doing things on my own! I mean I could sleep well the night before and I could drive to my doctors appt and then on the way back  I was falling a sleep behind the wheel to the point when I pulled over for him to start driving I was a sleep within seconds. I can't stand this first it started that the little things of cleaning the house or washing clothes was too much and thought about hiring someone to help me with day to day living and now I have to give up with driving on my own. It does not happen all the time just couple of times every two weeks. Does anyone else have this problem?

Oh yes, I am with you.  Afternoons are the absolute worst!  I am also beginning to get my feet confused with gas/brake.  Just last week I drove up a curb and did damage to a solid steel wheel.  Not sure how much longer I will be driving.  Mornings seem to be okay.  Don't get mad, it will just make things worst.  Think about the wonderful husband you have.  You will be fine.

You and I are alot alike, I struggled with driving daily.  I commute 100 miles a day and I was falling asleep at the wheel and I was also dealing with cognitive fog.  My neuro put me on Provigil 200mg twice a day.  I can't begin to tell you what a difference it has made for the better!  I love this med.  I can stay awake and function.  I started with just one pill at first and then increased to two as prescribed.  It does wear off so I had to adjust the times I take the medication to fit my needs.  I have only been on this for 3 weeks but it has made a huge difference in my life.  At first I had a feeling of way too much caffeine but that has resolved and i don't experience any side effects from the mediation.

I take the generic for provigil which is modafinil.  I am a nurse and a contracted mail carrier.  My nursing job is 100 miles round trip to and from work and the mail route is 100 miles. I was thinking I would have to stop working because I was falling asleep driving, but I am happy to report I am doing much better on the medication.

I wish you the best and understand your frustration, hang in there!

I have this problem for years. I would drive and have to stop and sleep for 30 minutes or so to be able to continue on my way. I also have sleep apnea that makes this problem worse. I had a dr put me on Ritalin to keep me awake. I have stopped taking that because of comments from those who don't understand. I still work six days a week and I struggle with fatique constantly. I plan to continue to use the Ritalin. We have to be able to function.

I am glad that someone suggested Provigil.  That drug really helps people from falling asleep.  It was developed for people suffering from narcolepsy.

Please look at all your med's side effects or talk with your pharmacist about this.  It could be your medications, but if you aren't on any medications, it could be some other health issue.  Let us know what you find out about your sleeping issue.

    Best of luck with this.

Provigil keeps me awake so I can feel safe when I drive.

I will be seeing my medical doctor on the 16th of this month and I will ask about the medications everyone has told me about, and I will let you know what happens.

So, The doctor I saw was a real ####! He was saying my doctor are wrong and don't know what they are taking about and the place that I had my MRI was wrong too! I left there crying My family doctor. Has put me back on storids and I will follow up with another doctor in the next two weeks. I'm having another flare up my chest is broke out to the point I have a red patch of hives all over me and itch like crazy. I have to go and get more blood work and another MRI to see how far the lesions are now! I will keep every one up to date!
