Advocating to One Day Hear These Words: You are Cured

John Platt is a husband and father of two daughters. Officially diagnosed with MS in 2005, John connected with the Society, has become a tireless MS activist and volunteer and was named chair of Pennsylvania’s Government Relations Committee in 2012. John’s focus in 2014 is a personal journey to walk 1,362.4 miles (Which represents one step for every individual in the world living with MS) fifty-two marathons in fiftytwo weeks. At the Society’s 2014 Public Policy Conference, John delivered this speech about what motivates him to be an MS activist.     I wonder where our Jonas Salk is? Our country would rather make profits on band-aid drugs than find a cure. I wish you well in your endeavor and warm showers in your future.

    I gave birth to 4 babies. All I ever prayed for was healthy babies.
    Well the Lord gave me 1 son that developed Muscular Dystrophy.
    Then 1 daughter that developed MS. Our son died 15 years ago.
    Our daughter snow in stage 2 Secondary Progressive. Believe me I so want
    to celebrate the date of a cure for both of these. Our daughter is still alive.
