If so what do you take? My neurologist doesn't believe in pain medicine.  I'm seriously thinking of going to another doctor.  I was really hurting all over Friday it was the first time I felt that bad. My hands and back and all over was just aching. I laid down and finally went to sleep. But all I have is antidepressants and migraine pills.

Yes I take Morphine tabs plus 2 Hydrocodones mid day after I work out and exercise between morphine med times. My pain doctor totally understands my pain! I have MS along with masses on my 7th 8th and 9th thorasic from being pushed down stairs, a broken tail bone from a fall...degenerative disc disease and pinched nerves! HELL YEAH I hafta take pain meds if I wanna live any kind of a normal life! Or I could just lay in bed all day and not do anything...that would suck!!!

I would suggest you seek a "Pain Management" doctor preferably one who is associated with the "Association Of Pain Mangement" ( thats VERY important! ) Because usually if they are not with that association...they arent very good............

What I would do would be to get  a copy from your doctor of your MS diagnosis and take that to the pain doctor of your choice! Request a note and you do not have to tell them WHY you want it...its PERSONAL! : )

Its YOUR body therefore it is YOUR decision whether you need a pain doctor or not....my primary doctor didnt want me to go to one either...I went and found one on my own...we have MS therefore we are going to have all kinds of pain in our backs and nerves.....

Let me know how youre doing!
If I can help in any way let me know!
    God Bless You!!!

My neuro doesn't either, but I'm beginning to understand why. Narcotic pain relief is intended to be a short term therapy. With a dx of ms, you're looking at a lifetime. I have had several really big joint surgeries in the past 2 years and am looking at another in October. My orthopedist has told me that other than post surgery, I need to get my pain meds from my PCP. Because these are "controlled" substances, they should only come from one physician and need to be monitored. I currently take Vicodin, about 2-3 a day. Because my pain is bone related, gabapentin didn't work at all. I agree about seeing a pain management specialist, because they can point you in a different direction and can coordinate your pain care. Sorry this was so long, but I've been researching, too!

I take oxycodone but only when I really need it and I had to go to a spine Dr to get that. I get a 90 day supply last Oct and I stillnhave plenty left but when I need it I really need it or I just go without.

    Hi Trish,
I take 6 Vicodin per day for leg pain and 18 50mg Predisone every 3 weeks. Without the Vicodin I would not be able to walk. Now my Nero has included Gabapintin and Bacflon. My stomach can barly handle all these meds. :(

I absolutely "HATE" having to take medications...the way i see it is....If I'm going to have any kind of a life and enjoy what life I have left...I'd rather take medications to help me be active without pain so I can laugh and enjoy my life!
Before taking pain meds...I was laying around taking colozapans that knocked me out...all I would do is sleep all day and I was so depressed from my pain....then someone suggested a pain management doctor and since then....my lifes been more active and I can actually work part time subbing!!! I am a much happier person!!!

Yes I know about the stomach upset from Baclofen....I have the same reaction as well....
The pain doctor I was seeing when I lived in Indiana had me on 2 hydrocodones 3x a day and I took those for years along with Mirtazapine to help me sleep at night and Tizanadine plus I would get trigger point injections in my neck and back from top to bottom every month.....
Then I moved to ohio and I see a different pain specialist he said that all of those Hydrocodones werent good for me so he has put me on 15mg Morphine pills to take 1-3x a day and I can take 2 hydrocodones if I over do it and my pain gets too bad....and the GOOD thing about this is....now I dont need trigger point injections anymore! my pain is being managed so much better now!!!

Finding a good pain specialist takes research and time....search and read the comments from their other patients on their web sites...
Hope things work out for you!
let me know how youre doing!

I have severe pain do to MS,  I been taking morphine 2x a day for 8 years.   If I didn't take it I would be down in bed and not be able to do anything! A month ago my new doctor told me she won't prescribe them and I have to go see a pain specialist. I'm very nervous about this, why change if it is working!  I'm trying to find another doctor but I don't know who to go to.😢
