Has anyone been having issues with bowel movements? I'm on Copaxone, well, I was, then my insurance cut me off, so I've been without for over 2 weeks.  I can go 2 or 3 days without going #2, then for a few days I feel like I'm going every half hour, it's not diarrhea, but it's annoying. Just curious, thanks!

Have you looked at your diet or medications (including vitamins)? I have found that the pain meds I take will cause constipation, as well as my calcium. And it does seem like after a couple of days without, I do seem to go more often. I know it's embarrassing and gross to talk about, but that's why our doctors always seem to ask! I've also heard that ms can cause the intestinal muscles to quit working right, which can also cause constipation.

    Hi Jonesy,
Shared Solution has an assistance program to help with the costs of Copaxone. The number for the assistance program is 1-877-422-4412 (RX Assistance- through Shared Solutions it's an excellent program.

I've read that bowel dysfunction is a symptom of MS.  Here is a small quote:

Constipation is a particular concern among people living with MS, as is loss of control of the bowels. Diarrhea and other problems of the stomach and bowels also can occur.

    end quote

I grabbed that from the symptoms section of www.nationalmssociety.com

How have you been (other than being 'stopped up)?  Haven't seen you on here in a while!

I've read that as well, guess it just never hit me, until it happened to  me lol! I'm doing good! A little irritated with my insurance, and not having my meds for the last 2 weeks, it's frustrating, I can definitely tell the difference between being on my meds and not. Oh boy do I need those things to keep me going lol I feel like I am totally exhausted by 9 in the morning, and walking like I'm 85 with arthritis in my hips, knees, and feet by about 5 in the evening!! But, I gotta keep positive, that's the only way to live when you live with MS!!  How've you been?!

About insurance... Have you contacted shared solutions for assistance? When I was on copaxone, they told me that there was help. You shouldn't have to wait for meds!

What's up with the insurance??  I'm glad I haven't had to fight that battle.......yet!  I'm doing good, living!  I started the Copaxone, and I don't mind it too much.  I'm with you on the exhaustion, arthritic feeling in my joints, etc, etc, etc.  You know, all that fun stuff, ha!  I hate the feeling of just bleh that won't go away.  Just tired and want to lay on the coach all day.  And who has time for that?!?!  But all in all, things are pretty good  It's to see ya back on here.

Having problems with bowel movements can be linked with just getting older too...I am on severeal medications therefore I take a "ProBiotic" capsule every day to keep my colon healthy and be able to stay "regular" so to speak!
Give it a try it really works!!!
They also have the Walmart brand and Walgreens brand which is cheaper as well!

I have contacted Shared Solutions as well as Assist Rx, so things are getting done! As for my insurance, I am on medicaid, and they shut me off because after I got "kicked off" the pregnancy medicaid, and re-applied for regular, I was no longer working for the same company, over 2 years ago. They needed verification of my "non-employment" with those people, even though I hadn't put them as an employer when I re-applied. My case manager was not calling me back to tell me what was going on, basically telling me she didn't know what she could tell me over a voicemail (since she NEVER called me, when she did I didn't have my phone right by me!) so I contacted my State Senator, and the next day she was calling me franctically trying to help. I guess it takes someone more than just a citizen to get these people to call back and be helpful!!

     THATS GREAT!!!!!!!
Yes I totally agree with you about the Medicaid issue...they take their good ol time!!!
That's horrible they ignored you that way!
It sounds like you have a compassionate Senator which is more than a lotta people have.
Glad you go the ball rolling!!!

Im a paraplegic , but I created a bidet style bowel program that helps me prevent accidents and gives me freedom from messy extractions.  My Paraflush is ready to install directly to your toilet supply line for on-demand water supply that facilitates a quick, easy, clean bowel program. All components are made of quality stainless steel and brass for durability, reliability and ease of cleaning. Every unit is individually hand assembled and designed for a lifetime of use.  I've also created a portable unit.  We are getting wonderful feedback from users.

Hope this helps!Paraflush® SCI Bowel Management Program

    I feel your pain, literally.

I suffer this as well, and the looks I get at my small office the 4th time I head for a stall but only once a week make the think they suspect I'm a heroine addict or something.

Really it is possibly the most annoying symptom I've had to date. Including my current 5th week of muscle spasms.

I hope everything gets worked out for you. In more than one way.
