    Hello guys,

For the last two weeks my thumb has been locking and painful. In the last couple days it has completly locked into place so i cant bend it without it hurting. I googled it and it appears to be trigger finger and can be linked to MS. Have any of you had this experience, and do you know what they do to fix it? I read about home remedies but they also do not seem to be helping. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreaciated.

    Surgery can be done.

Consider your days, are you doing repetive actions that would increase the pressure on the fingers? Varying the activities done during the day will help the muscles instead of doing the same task for a long period of time. Also try stretching the fingers wide, then closing each finger into the palm of the hand  and open and close the fingers  liek bye bye.

Thank you for your reply. I will try to exercize it and see if that helps. I currenly have a new born so i am doing a lot that is different, that could be what caused this. I am hoping that it goes away by monday if not i will be calling my neuro. I never realized how much i rely on my thumb.

    Hello lil-one,

Congratualations on your new baby! How are you feeling today and have you reached out to your neurologist yet?

Our brochure, Stretching for People with MS has some illustrations of stretching excercises for the hands and wrists on pages 15-17 that may be helpful.

Thank you Steph, I will look into those streches. I did call my neuro a few days ago but have yet to hear back from him. At this point my finger has pretty much frozen in a straight postion and when it does bend its extreemly painful, so i am not sure what can be done.
