Would love to hear from others dealing with this.  Have to say of the few well known people who had/have MS, their weight was obviously affected.  Namely I remember Richard Pryor and Annette Funicello.  My husband was diagnosed with RR MS around 6 years ago.  He has always been a healthy weight but recently it has started dropping.  He was in the 175-200 range and is now 163 (he is 6'3.)  Wondering if there really is anything I can do to counteract the weight loss or if it is just a part of how MS will continue to affect him.  Thinking of adding protein drinks to his diet.  He eats whatever he wants but does not consume much fatty red meat.  Thanks for sharing your thoughts/experiences.

I've been on Lyrica for a year and one of the side affects is weight gain.   But once I started Rebif, I began loosing weight.  I've lost over 10 pounds in a month and a half.  I'm 5'6 and I've gone from 126 to 115.  I also don't eat a lot of red meat, I usually have poultry of some kind.  Protein shakes don't sound like a bad idea, and they taste good too.

I have gained weight, but I thought it was the treatment?

That was my first symptom. I lost 10 punds in a little over a week when I was diagnosed. i had lost 30 pounds over that year. I thought I was just really doing good at first, but when the weight kept dropping I knew there was something awry. I thought it was cancer, so the MS was a shock, but I knew something was wrong before the symptoms started. I have noticed that when I start to drop weight quickly that is my first warning bad things are brewing. It's funny, I have always been average healthy build but by the time diagnosis came I was skeletal. As a woman, this is the first time in my life where if I gain 8 pounds i think Hey! I must be doing ok! LOL.

I have been dx for 15 years and have not really lost any weight.  I have to watch my weight because I don't exercise as much as I used to.  My appetite is good but I work hard to lose weight so I would think that losing weight is unusual.

I am on Rebif and haven't noticed any effect from that drug on my weight.  I have stopped eating meat but that hasn't affected my weight.
