Potassium is one of many substances called 'electrolytes' that help carry electrical signals between cells.

Too little potassium in the cells can cause muscle weaknessThe weakness usuallty starts in the legsand then spreads to the middle of the body and the arms. It can also damage muscles. It can effect the muscles that control breathing, also, it can cause irregular heartbeat, disrupt the electric signals that control the heart, impair the kidneys.

    How is your potassium?.
