I'm new to the group so please redirect me if this the wrong forum.
My wife was diagnosed over 20 years ago now. We're originally from England but have lived in the Raleigh NC area for 14 years. We are naturalized US citizens.
On ssa.gov it says that since I'm eligible for disability benefits that my family may be too m(y wife has no direct benefits since she has not and can not work). However, I seem to recall being told that it's often a long, arduous and mainly unsuccessful effort and may require lawyers.
Is this the case? If there are any stories successful or otherize particularly in NC I would love to hear.
Please may I suggest that you contact the National MS Society or go to nmss.org and connect with an ms navigator. The society will know who you need to contact if they do not have the answers you require. They are there to assist us. best wishes, maria
