I have been diagnosed with MS for 10 years now, and in August I was diagnosed with syringomyelia. Syringomyelia is a cyst inside my spinal cord and a couple months away from my 39th birthday I have filed for disability....

sarterburn, I am sorry you have so much on your plate. How are the doctors treating the cyst? Are you in pain? How are you spending your time now that you are not working?

Right now my neurosurgeon said it would involve exploratory surgery which would leave 5 to 6 disc fused in my spine and would only keep it from getting worse, Any improvement would be a bonus. So with that great news right now we are on a monitor with exams and more MRIs every few months and if it doesn't get worse praise the Lord. If it does he's going to push for surgery.

Sorry to hear you are dealing with not only MS, but another condition as well!  I wanted to provide you a link which will take you to a section of our site specifically addressing filing for disability.  I hope the process goes smoothly for you, but if it doesn't, there are some great resources here to assist with appeals and help answer questions.
