For many, the new year is a time to reflect on the past year and contemplate our hopes for the year ahead. What are your hopes for 2017? Your goals? What will you do to live your best life? What advances would you like to see in the field of MS research and treatment?

I hope for us all in 2017, JOY. My goal for 2017, JOY. Advances, ha, a cure, ha, reduced cost in financing ms treatments.

To stay strong no matter what comes next! To be thankful for what I have and where I'm at today in my life. To keep moving forward!

    1) I'm currently learning Spanish. I hope to be at least conversational by the end of the year.
    2) I'm trying to write more. It's always been a love of mine and somewhere I got away from it. I have all this time on my hands anyway...
    3) Push hard against my comfort zone. There are a couple Meetups I really want to get to. I've just been having trouble getting motivated. I'm challenging myself to change that.

#1Will always be for a cure, but in the mean time..
I hope I can become a better me for my family and myself. I want to work on things I CAN control, like my diet and moving more.

I have finally started back on the journey to finish my bachelors degree since being diagnosed in 2014. 10 classes left. I WILL finish it! I will not drop my classes as I have in the past because I had doubts. I will keep up on my doctor appointments. I will not let fear of the unknown keep me from taking control of my disease. I will not be afraid to say NO at work. I do not need to be a super woman everywhere. I have enough on my plate without taking on more. EXERCISE! I will do it!

Cheers to you!  Once fear makes the decisions for you, forget about progression and moving forward.  Good luck with school, stand strong at work, don't forget that dancing is a form of exercise, and may good health and good luck be with you always.

My goal for 2017 is to continue to get close to God and understanding his Word and how to help to inspire others, make them smile and know that they are not alone.
Next, I will be flying to New York with my cousin this summer to see my brother and his family. To enjoy my life, my husband, my children, my family and friends I know and the ones that I will get to know.
And to become more involved with the MS community.

I hope that this year will be revolutionary for MSers. As the world will find a cure for MS and end MS forever.

Hopes for this year: be in my own house (never lived in a house), start a family with my hubby, get a raise at work, find habits that keep my energy good, keeping my weight in normal range for my height
Living my best life: not taking myself so seriously, being kinder to those around me, doing more of what I like (writing, shooting pictures, taking day trips, trying new recipes, more fun stuff), stating my mind, living my faith on more than just Sunday mornings
MS advances: finding ways to treat PPMS (I have RRMS, but I want others to be able to be treated as well), finding more precise MS causes, finding treatments pregnant women can use, vitamin regimens.
Last year ended a bit sadly with me losing my grandfather, but I know he wouldn't want me to lose hope for better days.  Here's hoping this year will be a good and healthy one for all of us on Planet MS.

My hope is that my doctors will be able to finally tell me if some of the "maybe they ARE MS symptoms" are actually symptoms or not. I have painful blisters on my hands and toes and a few other complications, but so far I have gotten no answers. I'd just like to hold a pen properly again.

Stop making excuses and start making decisions. Remind myself more often how beautiful things are and thankful I am. Find my place in life again.

    My list for 2017:

Drag race the quarter mile, at 5000+ feet, in 11.5 seconds or less.
    Be more physically active.
Successfully knit a gift (just learning!!).
    Get promoted.
Be an active member in Walk MS Albuquerque (April 8): walk, raise money, volunteer.

It's a bit of a long list. All but one is completely within my control. w00t. Let's do this!

I'm in the same boat as you, with the diabetes and MS, good times huh?
  • randomran127
There are a lot of goals, but the most important ones are to stay as healthy as I can for my family and my children.  I will continue working to support my family, spend more time with my friends, keep making music, illustrating, and try to get involved the best I can with the MS society. Staying positive is the best thing I can do, so I’m going to try my best to be in a better mood. I feel that talking to people about this disease puts me in a better state of mind.
