I am a 46 year old woman who has lived with MS since 2000, and I have two amazing kids. My first sign of MS was numbness in the pinky finger of my left hand. After getting an MRI and being diagnosed with MS, negative thoughts took over. When I experienced my first attack in 2004, I started taking Rebif and continued for 10 years. When the side effects got worse, I started looking for ways to stop my medication. I decided to change my attitude and instead of thinking negatively and focusing on the effects of MS on my body, I shifted my focus to how I can help myself and others. I became more involved in yoga and decided to become a yoga instructor. Now, I have been off medication for more than 4 years. I am living well and am working with people who have MS. I am the founder of the MS Yoga Society and my mission is helping people who deal with MS and pain by making them strong, mentally and physically. I provide yoga classes for the general public in my private studio. For people with MS, I also offer FREE yoga classes at the Pars Equality Center in San Jose every Saturday from 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm.
